Avalon Bodyworks is owned by husband-wife team
Mike Bass and Kathy Hobgood.

At Avalon, we believe strongly in what we do. We adhere to a high standard of practice and
professional ethics. Our therapists have passed rigorous national certification exams and are
professionally licensed by the State of South Carolina. Our therapists are members of professional
organizations such as:
American Massage Therapy Association or Associated Bodywork and Massage Professionals.

Mike Bass
LMBT, CNMT #1754

Mike is a long time resident of the upstate. He has lived in the Easley area since 1970.
Mike's background is in various business management positions.

Mike is SC licensed Massage & Bodywork Therapist and Certified Neuromuscular
Massage Therapist. He is a 1998 graduate of Southeastern School of Neuromuscular
and Massage Therapy in Greenville, SC where he was the Neuromuscular
Massage Therapy instructor for 7 years.

Mike specializes in Neuromuscular Reeducation and Chronic Pain Management.
He treats many conditions that stem from structural imbalances, causing restricted movement,
decreased joint mobility and chronic pain. He has a true love for bodywork and through extensive
experience, he is able to help his clients achieve outstanding results.

Mike enjoys collecting comic books, gardening, grilling and making and
playing Native American style flutes.

Kathy Hobgood
LMBT, CNMT # 3360

Kathy grew up in the mountains of Northeast Georgia, where her parents still reside.
She lived in Fairbanks, Alaska for 17 years, eventually locating to Easley in 1997.
Her business background is in accounting and software development and support.

Kathy is a SC licensed Massage and Bodywork Therapist and Certified
Neuromuscular Massage Therapist. She is a 2002 graduate of Southeastern School
of Neuromuscular and Massage Therapy in Greenville, SC where she worked for three years as
Mike's assistant instructor in the Neuromuscular Massage Therapy program. She also served as
the senior Swedish Massage Therapy instructor at Southeastern in Greenville and taught
Neuromuscular Therapy and Functional Anatomy at Southeastern's Columbia campus.

Kathy practices Swedish, Deep Tissue, Neuromuscular Massage, and Essential Oil Therapy.
She works with variety of conditions ranging from chronic headaches to stress related issues that
can result in lack of sleep and chronic fatigue.

Kathy's hobbies include gardening, reading and "brain-teaser" puzzles.
