Lavender is one of the most versatile essential oils. It is relaxing and refreshing and helps to relieve muscle pain. Lavender balances your body and mind, calming or uplifting according to your current need. Excellent for refreshing tired muscles, feet and head. Add a drop or two to a tissue and slide into your pillow case for peaceful sleep. Treats burns and reduces scarring. Can be used neat in small amounts on burns, but care still needs to be taken for sensitivity. ~~~~~~~~~~~ Roman Chamomile (Anthemis nobilis) Roman Chamomile has a warm, sweet, herbal scent that is relaxing and calming. It is soothing to all skin types and is a wonderful addition to a massage for sore muscles and joints. Chamomile oil is known for its strong soothing effect on both mind and body, very helpful for sleeping difficulty or when stressed. Roman chamomile is excellent for protecting dry skin, and can be used to treat nervousness, headaches, insomnia, muscle aches and menstrual disorders. This oil is a comforting oil during high pollen count (unless you have an allergy to ragweed). This is such a gentle oil that it's suitable for the young, the elderly and the fragile. It is one of the few essential oils that can be used on inflamed skin conditions. ~~~~~~~~~~~ Eucalyptus (Eucalyptus globulus) Eucalyptus globulus is well known for its use as a respiratory oil. A fresh and stimulating oil, Eucalpytus has a penetrating scent and strong antiseptic properties. It is widely used to relieve congestion and muscle aches. Eucalyptus essential oil can be used in baths or blended with a carrier oil to use in a chest rub for colds. Use in a steam inhalation for nasal and/or sinus congestion. As a preventative, use eucalpytus oil in a diffuser during the night to help protect yourself when others are sick with colds or flu. Caution: Do not use Eucalyptus Globulus on children under the age of 12 and avoid during pregnancy. ~~~~~~~~~~~ Peppermint (Mentha piperita) Peppermint essential oil is an energizing oil with a penetrating, minty aroma that helps to relieve both mental and physical fatigue. Use it in the daytime, as its energizing effect may keep you awake at night. Peppermint is soothing in a foot bath after a long day on your feet, and one drop on a handkerchief is reviving during travel. This is also a great oil to use in a car diffuser for long trips. Cautions: Can cause skin irritation. Tea tree essential oil is a powerful antiseptic, antifungal and antiviral. Good for acne, cold sores, warts, and burns. Use for vaporizing to kill germs. Useful cleansing agent for skin. Helps combat foot odor and athletes foot. Cautions: May cause irritation to sensitive skin. ~~~~~~~~~~~ Ylang Ylang - Extra (Cananga odorata) There are five grades of Ylang Ylang essential Oil: Extra, #1, #2, #3 and Dark. Extra is the from the first distillation. With its intensely sweet, floral fragrance, this exotic oil lifts the spirits, promotes relaxation and has long been used for its sensual properties.
